It's been a few months since a Retro Redesign post! For new blog friends, Retro Redesign is where I take a room from a house currently for sale in San Francisco and give it a little virtual makeover in the spirit of the time it was built.
I adore the charming detail at 177 Parnassus in Cole Valley, but the super modern bed isn't jiving with me. Those gorgeous leaded windows are losing out to the bold black frames and bed stand.
I prefer this version featured on Apartment Therapy that touches the Victorian heritage, but keeps it fresh with the monochromatic scheme.
To achieve this look in the darling room in Cole Valley, I would start with these items:
Clockwise from Top L:
Furniture CMYK - Acrylic Chair
Overstock - Gallery Chandelier
Modern Furniture - Retreat Antique White Bed
Pottery Barn - Sloane Ceramic Vases
Bed Bath and Beyond - Matelasse White Quilt Set
Target - Threshold Shades and Lamp
My favorite bits are the mimicking patterns of the lamp shades and vases tying the decor to the leaded windows. I think I would keep the grey walls and potentially the velvet looking side chair that isn't wholly visible in the listing photos. Is the grey a keeper or will the wood lamps throw the whole thing off?
