I have a vision - in fact, I have several visions, which is contributing to the overall decision paralysis I have. We're now at a point where we're out of boxes, but after living in the space for a while, I'm not convinced about the placement of furniture and household items. The scale is much different than in our old place, so it's a little bit like living in a house of circus mirrors where everything is distorted.I think my next steps are to start collecting inspiration for each room and then logging necessary steps. Some of the plan requires selling off some pieces we have to make room for choosing new pieces and carefully searching Craigslist or consignment stores for pieces that work better in this scale. It's slow going, but we're taking the steps and it doesn't seem as hopeless as these pictures full of boxes. I'm thinking progress is a win!
How long does it take you to feel settled after a move?

Ah, your new place is gorgeous, even with all of the boxes!
ReplyDeleteAnd we totally have boxes everywhere too. It really does take a while to find the perfect spot for everything, especially when you're planning on getting new furniture. I definitely have some boxes that aren't getting unpacked until we get around to buying new furniture to unpack the contents into!
Wow! Loving your new place, especially that bathroom!
ReplyDeleteDuring our last move, I was up early the next morning unloading all of the boxes because I didn't want to go out of town and come back to the rooms full of boxes. Usually I hate unpacking, but a little part of me is looking forward to this next move because we'll finally be able to open up gifts from the wedding.
Love your new place! I'm so curious to know. We just bought our first place and will have to address this issue. Moving into a rental feels so different and so much easier.
ReplyDeleteI love the new house! I know it's chaos, but settling in is so much fun! I hate the process of moving (especially packing!) but there's just something about unpacking in a new home that feels so special!
ReplyDeleteAwww, as frustrating as the process is, you have a GORGEOUS house under there. It looks so move-in ready too, with all the crown molding and nice paint. Everything is shiny and white! Best of luck to you, can't wait to see the after after.
ReplyDeleteIts been a year for us and I still feel unsettled..and still have stuff still packed away :P. Your home looks absolutely beautiful though - and once you're done settling in it'll be even better!
ReplyDeleteWe've lived in our house for five years now and I think that I didn't really start "decorating" in a style that I truly loved until about year four. It took me forever to find the motivation and to find my own decorating style.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, your new place is FAB and you have some great bones to work with!
