She was a Very Good Dog

It feels surreal to be writing my third memorial post since my last birthday.  Obviously one post was harder than the others, but Sammie's, and now Sage's, have been the bookends of death on my 27th year.  Ever since we adopted Sage from the rescue group, she paid for her keep with lots of kisses, frisbee catches and well timed rolling of her eyes.  She's the only dog I've known in real life that fetched the newspaper and slippers.  She was a very good dog.

  1. Awww. I'm sorry! Sage was such a sweet dog. Whenever I stayed at your parents' house she kept me company. I think she knew I wasn't a dog person, and made a point to be extra sweet. :-)

  5. :( I watched Marley and Me recently, you know, because I like to torture myself...and because I love the story. Paddy was lying next to me on the couch and at the end, I looked at her with tears running down my cheeks and told her she had to live forever or at least outlive me. A dog is such an integral family member and I'm sure your heart aches. Sending you a big hug from the East Coast!
