Hot Air Ballooning

I often wonder how my fear of heights would manifest itself on a hot air balloon ride.
The romantic image of gliding across the sky, rising towards the clouds and catching my breath over the panoramic views is inspiring.
However, it would be a waste of about $200 if I was curled up in a ball on the basket floor repeatedly asking to be let down.
So for now, I wonder from the ground.

  1. We went on a hot air balloon ride on our honeymoon and it was amazing, but if you do have a big fear of heights, I might not recommend it. I was hit several times with the realization that there are like...zero safety nets and I'm really just hanging in the air in a basket. It was thrilling to me, but could be terrifying to someone else, like my mom who is very very afraid of heights.

They are beautiful though-even if you're not in them, it's fun to appreciate it from the ground ;)

  2. I would LOVE to go on a hot air balloon ride, and I know I would enjoy it so much, but my husband is terrified of heights and it would be miserable for him. I feel like it's kind of one of those romantic do-with-your-spouse kind of things, so I guess it's not in the cards for me! :)

  3. I agree, its beautiful and looks like a lot of fun, but its hard to know whether I would be too scared! Wait for a good groupon deal? Hehe

  4. DO IT!!! My husband for some reason doesn't mind the angle of a hot air balloon yet for some reason our balcony freaks him out. Go figure! Anyhoo, you should totally try it. I felt safe in the one I went on.

  5. I really want to do a balloon ride, but I worry about my husband's fear of heights. He says he would try it, but I would worry he would be that curled ball on the bottom of the basket.

If you do go, let me know how it goes!
